DVD-Tipp: "Out of the Blue" - Special Edition
Cindy "CeBe" Barnes hat wenig Grund zur Hoffnung. Ihr Vater Don, ein Trucker, sitzt seit Jahren im Knast, weil er mit seinem Laster im Suff einen Schulbus gerammt hat und dabei etliche Kinder zu Tode kamen. Ihre heroinsüchtige Mutter Kathy arbeitet als Bedienung in einem Diner, mit dessen Besitzer sie eine Affäre hat. Als sich CeBes Leben scheinbar zum Guten wendet, explodieren ihre Träume endgültig und sie holt aus zu einem letzten schockierenden Akt der Verzweiflung.
Der bittere Beigeschmack von "Out of the Blue" ist nachhaltig und man wird noch lange an diesem unbequemen, nach Diesel und Alk riechenden Meisterwerk zu knabbern haben. Aber genau das ist es, was Hooper erreichen wollte und auch geschafft hat. Zeitlosigkeit, die Generationen überdauern und das Publikum zum Nachdenken anzuregen. Wer hier also ein fernsehntaugliches Sozialdrama erwartet, sollte sich warm anziehen, denn die Wirklichkeit findet man nicht, wenn man eine rosafarbene Brille trägt ...

Bush and the Republicans were not protecting us on 9-11, and we aren't a lot safer now. We may be more afraid due to george bush, but are we safer? Being fearful does not necessarily make one safer. Fear can cause people to hide and cower. What do you think? Is killing thousands of innocent civilians okay when you are doing a little government makeover?
What happened to us, people? When did we become such lemmings?
The more people that the government puts in jails, the safer we are told to think we are. The real terrorists are wherever they are, but they aren't living in a country with bars on the windows. We are.
